Ice Fishing

Today's blog post will talk about Ice Fishing. Ice Fishing has been a common way for fishing for many years. Its one of the most popular ways of fishing today. Here are two ways of Ice Fsihing these days. Fishing through a hole in the ice or Shanty Fishing. Fishing through a hole in the ice is the easiest method of ice Fishing. I say that because you don't have to lug a Shanty out on to the ice. You just need to carve out a hole in the ice with a chainsaw and start fishing with either live bait or lures. I would recommend using live bait (minnows) and not lures because it attracts the fish more. Shanty Fishing is rare today because our ice doesn't really freeze good and it couldn't take the weight of the Shanty. A Shanty is like a little house or hut that you would lug onto the ice. Its more used for shelter purposes against the cold and wind. They used Shanties for when spearing was legal, now it isn't. But people still use Shanties for the warmth and protection. Fish that you would commonly catch would be: Shad, Muskie,River Salmon, Perch and Pike. To see a fishing Shanty click on the title.
